About The Position

The Area Manager provides senior operational oversight for multiple dining facilities at Fort Benning. This role is responsible for ensuring contract compliance, operational consistency, financial performance, and high-quality food service delivery across assigned facilities. The Area Manager serves as a key liaison between installation leadership, project management, quality control, and DFAC leadership teams in support of mission readiness.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in institutional dining, food service operations, or military dining facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of DFAC operations, government contracts, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, labor, and operational performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing multi-site operations preferred.
  • Additional food safety or management certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for multiple dining facilities to ensure consistent, efficient, and mission-aligned operations.
  • Support DFAC Managers and General Managers in meeting performance, service, and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor daily operations and address escalated operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations, Army regulations, food safety standards, HACCP protocols, and organizational policies.
  • Partner with Quality Control and Safety teams to resolve findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain inspection readiness and support audits and reviews.
  • Oversee labor management, food costs, inventory controls, and budget adherence across assigned facilities.
  • Review financial and operational reports, analyze trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Support procurement activities and vendor performance management.
  • Lead, coach, and develop DFAC leadership teams, including succession planning and performance management.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts to maintain staffing levels aligned with operational needs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for installation leadership and client representatives.
  • Address customer concerns and service issues promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain effective communication across internal departments and external partners.
  • Enforce workplace safety standards and support risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented following incidents, inspections, or audits.
