As the Area Manager, you will play a critical role in leading upholstery operations within our manufacturing plant, empowering team members to do their best work every day. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Management, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing leadership experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on furniture upholstery manufacturing experience, with deep technical knowledge of product construction and quality standards required.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience as a team lead or supervisor, with a proven ability to motivate, coach, and hold teams accountable required.
  • A servant-leader mindset, you enjoy teaching, developing others, and helping your team succeed while remaining open to feedback and continuous learning.
  • Strong understanding of labor planning, man-hour allocation, and productivity management in a manufacturing environment.
  • A detail-driven, quality-focused approach, ensuring standards are consistently met on time, every time.
  • The ability to prioritize, adapt, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate expectations into action.
  • Strong time-management skills and the confidence to work independently while collaborating effectively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop upholsters and trimmers, partnering with them on product construction to ensure exceptional quality and minimal rework.
  • Drive daily performance, ensuring production schedules are consistently met or exceeded while maintaining uncompromising quality standards.
  • Create open lines of communication by engaging frequently with team members, proactively identifying and removing barriers to quality, efficiency, and morale.
  • Champion standard work, ensuring construction guidelines are clearly understood and followed across all SKUs.
  • Foster accountability and engagement by leading and encouraging active participation in departmental meetings.
  • Continuously improve the operation by identifying, recommending, and implementing process improvements that increase throughput, efficiency, and team effectiveness.
  • Manage and balance workflow to meet customer commitments and production deadlines without sacrificing craftsmanship.
  • Model safety and ownership, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment where people take pride in their space and work.
