About The Position

We are seeking a technically skilled and people-focused Area Manager Recovery to lead chemical recovery operations at our Pine Bluff mill. This role is responsible for managing recovery boilers, liquor systems, and recausticizing processes, ensuring operational excellence, process safety, and system reliability. The right candidate will bring hands-on knowledge in recovery processes and the ability to lead teams through change and modernization. This person will play a critical role in supporting the long-term plans, helping to execute and potentially lead transformation project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in recovery or chemical processing operations, ideally in pulp & paper.
  • Experience with recovery boilers, black liquor, and causticizing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in industrial settings and foster a modern leadership approach.
  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to major recovery boiler rebuilds or new boiler implementation.
  • Experience in SAP and familiarity with performance and maintenance tracking tools.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all chemical recovery operations, including recovery boilers, evaporators, and causticizing systems.
  • Support the transition and planning for future investments.
  • Lead and develop a team of operators and technicians with a focus on safety, accountability, and modern leadership practices.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and drive improvements through coaching and innovation.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering on shutdowns, improvements, and reliability upgrades.
  • Coordinate with technical teams on liquor management and black liquor routing.
  • Monitor daily KPIs and provide critical operational updates during shift meetings.
  • Contribute to documentation and planning using SAP and ensure compliance with internal standards.
