About The Position

The Area Manager, Health Information Management, serves as a crucial liaison between MRO Corporation and client management, ensuring compliance with established policies and regulations in the management of Release of Information (ROI) activities. This role involves overseeing ROI Specialists, managing workflow, and ensuring that client facilities meet processing goals efficiently and effectively. The position requires the candidate to reside in either Florida or Ohio, covering areas including Canton and Cleveland, Ohio, and Vero Beach, Stuart, and Weston, Florida.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's and/or Associates Degree in Health Information Management, Business Administration, or a health-related field preferred.
  • RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
  • 3 years of supervisory/management experience in Health Information Management in an acute care setting preferred.
  • 3 years experience as a Practice Manager in a large physician practice preferred.
  • Prior experience supervising 10 full-time employees preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy information standards required.
  • Demonstrates excellence in written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications required, including MS Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct meetings with client management to review ROI operations and streamline workflow.
  • Ensure staff is oriented, trained, and competent in all aspects of ROI and defined workflow.
  • Manage workflow among on-site employees to maximize productivity and quality standards.
  • Adjust work assignments to cover peak periods, leave, and vacancies.
  • Prioritize work to ensure completion of ROI functions.
  • Provide coverage during backlogs, illness, vacation, or leave of absence of medical record staff.
  • Perform Quality Assurance monitoring of work performance for ROI Specialists.
  • Conduct productivity and work performance reviews for ROI Specialists according to policies and procedures.
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback and evaluations for ROI Specialists.
  • Approve paid time off and manage schedules for all staff.
  • Promote a positive self-image of MRO with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive and efficient manner.
  • Provide support to the Director of Operations as needed.
