About The Position

This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment while leading a team of technicians and associates.

Requirements

• Experience managing industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia systems preferred)
• Strong leadership and team development skills
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance (OSHA PSM, EPA, NFPA, DOT, etc.)
• Ability to analyze operational and financial data
• Experience in maintenance operations within distribution, manufacturing, or industrial environments
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• 1 year Walmart Energy Center Refrigeration Technician experience OR 1 year industrial warehouse refrigeration systems experience OR 1 year refrigeration/HVAC maintenance supervisory experience.
• Obtain Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) and Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) certifications within 30 months of job entry date and maintain them while employed in this position.

Responsibilities

• Implement business plans by communicating goals, managing staffing and scheduling, assigning duties, and coordinating workloads to meet production, safety, and quality targets.
• Monitor and analyze refrigeration system performance and operational reports to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
• Maintain strict adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements, including OSHA (PSM), EPA, NFPA, DOT, and other applicable standards.
• Oversee daily Energy Center operations, including diagnosing issues and directing repairs across: o Ammonia refrigeration systems o Electrical and electronic control systems o Air compressors and related equipment o General building systems tied to refrigeration operations
• Supervise, coach, and develop associates and leaders by providing feedback, identifying training needs, and supporting hiring, promotion, and performance evaluation processes.
• Ensure all associates are trained and compliant with Walmart Logistics policies and procedures, while maintaining proper documentation and operational standards.
• Address associate, supplier, and operational concerns by identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Track expenses and capital expenditures against budget, monitor asset utilization, and analyze operational data to drive cost efficiency.
• Ensure all equipment and tools are in proper working condition, and investigate incidents involving equipment damage, accidents, or safety concerns.

• The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
