The Opportunity The Area Management Professional (AMP), under supervision of the Regional Manager, manages certain day-to-day operational activities in a defined geographic area and will apply frontline management skills, leadership, coaching and support to the team as needed in support of maturing those skills and seeking feedback. This role is intended to be a developmental role for future Area Managers on an as-needed basis only within TC’s respective US Gas Operations (USGO) Regions.

Requirements

  • Technical operational expertise in one or more of the following areas: pipeline; compression and gas conditioning; automation and electrical; storage; pipeline safety and mapping; measurement and regulation; operations and maintenance; construction management; permitting/compliance regulations; project management and design.
  • Successful completion of an Associate Degree from a 2- or 3-year technical school program (Engineering, Business Management, or equivalent) or equivalent combination of training and experience in lieu of a degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience, with demonstrated management or leadership skills
  • Establish and maintain operator qualifications (OQ’s) and technical tasks in an applicable discipline to be able to support the team in break/ fix work and/ or peak workload periods.
  • Required OQ evaluator, collaborating with regulatory team to gain & communicate changes that impact operations
  • Candidate must be willing to work a 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm standard schedule to collaborate with and manage nightshift operations personnel with a willingness to adjust hours as needed to meet business needs.
  • Position is subject to calls outside of normal hours to provide needed support for all shift operations.
  • This position requires candidates to: Be available for extended work hours or workdays as required based on operational and business requirements
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • Travel across borders and as such the candidate must be able to provide applicable documentation to this affect
  • New Hires subject to a pre-employment physical, background check, and drug test

Responsibilities

  • Team/People Leadership Under supervision of the Area Manager, takes certain responsibilities for the day-to-day operational activities of a crew of hourly employees in a defined geographic area
  • May be asked to step-up and fill in for the Area Manager, in whole or in part, during their absence
  • Development of frontline leadership skills (active field leadership, active listening, positive reinforcement, collaboration, communication, providing feedback, etc.) through course work and leadership in action aligning with TC Policies and Procedure
  • General Leadership Communicate, implement, and advocate corporate messages and programs in the spirit of the organizational vision and values.

  • Assist Area Manager by leading/participating in teams and initiatives on behalf of the Area
  • Works with the team to improve our ability to keep up with changing technology
  • Asset Management Provides local field input and reviews into processes and procedures for the operational facilities to aid in ensuring all work activities are done safely and efficiently
  • Provides technical field support in all areas of transmission and storage maintenance and reliability to all of the teams with whom USGO collaborates
  • Collaborate with Technical and Operations Services (TOS) to monitor and analyze the performance of the equipment and assets, and make recommendations related to the effectiveness, functionality and/or performance of equipment
  • Support the Area Manager by utilizing in-depth knowledge of area operations to identify, quantify, risk score, raise awareness of and action mitigation (if necessary) for area specific maintenance and reliability risks, in alignment with the FMP tool and Corporate Risk Register
  • Compliance, Safety & Emergency Response Drives and empowers safety culture across operating areas
  • Be a leader in Safety; Role model the Life Saving Rules (LSR) and adhere to the Life Saving Rules and all company procedures to ensure the safe operation of facilities, the protection of personnel, our environment, our customers and the people of the communities in which we do business
