About The Position

Phoenix Paper Wickliffe LLC is searching for qualified candidates to assume the role of Area Maintenance Supervisor (AMS). Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the position of AMS will be responsible for providing organizational leadership in the Pulp Mill Maintenance Department including training, staff development, project management, and performance tracking. The Pulp Mill maintenance area includes Pulp mill, Woodyard and Repulping sections of the mill. This is a salaried, exempt position and therefore, is considered 'exempt' from overtime.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Qualified non-degreed candidates will be considered.
• 5 - 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working in a paper/pulp mill is highly preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ supervisory experience.
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of industrial equipment and components such as pumps, motors, bearings, refrigeration systems, compressors, piping systems, electrical and instrumentation, etc. used in paper manufacturing.
• Strong computer skills in regard to SAP, Microsoft applications and CMMS systems.
• Candidate must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills, as well as initiative and the ability to delegate decision making and other responsibilities.
• Ability to successfully handle multiple time sensitive projects and issues.
• Candidate must possess clear verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management.

Responsibilities

• Work with the hourly team lead to ensure that safe work procedures are being followed.
• Supervise the establishment and/or modification of safe work procedures in full accordance with OSHA policies.
• Provide maintenance leadership to the Pulp Mill area in our efforts to achieve optimum equipment, and process reliability.
• Evaluate and develop skills of maintenance employees.
• Manage safety incident backlog and ensure safety follow-up with crews.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures including safety training, inspections, accident investigation and housekeeping.
• Lead/participate on projects in the maintenance and operations department.
• Manage contractor resources for maintenance projects & daily activities.
• Participate in departmental hourly/management team meetings.
• Communicate with managers and support teams to provide direction and ensure awareness, participation and understanding of issues and opportunities.
• Effectively communicate with operating and maintenance staff.
• Provide extended coverage for equipment downtime periods, holidays, and weekends as scheduled.
