About the position

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section.
  • Proactively engages with their teams' development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback.
  • Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.
  • Coordinates with design on constructability issues.
  • Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.
  • Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Possesses responsibility for coordinating between Construction and Startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the Startup Specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
  • Solid grounding in construction engineering principles and practices for medium- to large-scale projects (ideally data center or similar industrial projects).
  • Familiarity with applicable local codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor multi-discipline engineering teams, including staffing and performance management.
  • Proven track record in planning and packaging work scopes, sequencing tasks, and coordinating schedules among various stakeholders.
  • Strong experience with quantity take-off, tracking, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Experience in preparing, reviewing, and managing subcontracts, including submittals, invoices, change orders, and field change documentation.
  • Deep understanding of on-site safety protocols, zero-accident philosophy, and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of system turnover requirements, including walkdowns, punch list management, and final documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience integrating turnover data with scheduling/estimating tools and advanced work packaging (AWP).
  • Hands-on experience with scheduling, quantity tracking, cost control systems, and advanced construction automation tools.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and AWP processes to integrate design and field execution.
  • Evidence of risk management and problem-solving abilities in a subcontract environment.
