About The Position

The Greater Houston Region is looking to hire an Area Director for the City of Pearland. Pearland is a large suburb of Houston with multiple high schools and middle schools. Pearland Young Life currently has ministry at two high schools and an active group of parents ready to help start WyldLife. There is room to grow into more high schools and middle schools and to develop YoungLives and Capernaum. There is also potential to extend ministry into smaller school districts surrounding Pearland. Young Life has existed in Pearland for 30 years, and there are faithful volunteer leaders and many adults in the community who support Young Life along with a committee. The ideal candidate for this job is someone who is familiar with Young Life and ready to engage in the adult work needed in order to build strong volunteer teams and a strong and engaged committee.

Requirements

  • Spiritual maturity and a growing faith.
  • Successful track record in working with adolescents and sharing the Gospel.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in developing people.
  • Strong initiative and vision.
  • Experience in raising money and managing a budget.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with adults in the community.
  • Must have completed Core Training —Phase One.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • A call to reach kids with the Gospel.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all Young Life ministry in the area is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer that takes place out of the overflow of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Partner with the regional director and committee to cast vision for reaching “every kid” within the defined area.
  • Develop consistent gatherings with committee, leaders, and staff to build unity and provide vision and direction.
  • Develop and execute an area vision and strategic plan.
  • Oversee the resource development of the area; meet with donors and oversee fundraising events.
  • Participate in dynamic direct ministry with kids (contact work).
  • Participation and leadership in annual staff events and training.
  • Recruit, train, and lead committee members.
