About The Position

Area Director - Programs Reporting to the Assistant Director of Clubhouse Operations, the Area Director - Programs is responsible for directly managing the overall operation, organization, grant compliance, supervision, reporting, and training of staff for all programming in the organization. Includes programming in Education, Leadership, Creative Arts, Health & Wellness, Sports & Recreation, and Workforce Development. Advises and assists Clubhouse Directors with all expectations and compliance regarding programs, program quality, data reporting, and programmatic events for all departments. The essential job duties for this role include: Programs Administration Analyzes available data relevant to each Clubhouse within the BGCSNV organization to determine priority of needs regarding programming. Sources quality validated programming in areas of need as determined through analysis of available data relevant to each Clubhouse within the BGCSNV organization. Develops program objectives and programmatic budgets for all BGCSNV clubs. Directly supervises Program Director team and Career Developer while working with the Area Directors – Region for compliance, supervision, and accountability of all programming. Participates in the performance review process of Clubhouse staff involved in program delivery. Provides supplemental supervision when needed, training, input for performance guidance, assistance, and resource information to program staff and volunteers. Promotes individual staff and team progress. Provides constructive feedback for continuous quality improvement. Creates opportunities for reward and recognition of professional staff. Works with the Mental Health Department to maximize inclusion of Trauma Informed Practice in Clubhouse programming. Evaluates programs on a continual basis and ensures that programs and activities address the gender and cultural diversity of members, along with educational and cultural needs of the members. Utilizes best practices and appropriate evaluation and data tools to include, but not limited to, National Youth Outcomes Initiatives (NYOI) survey data, Program Quality Assessment (PQA/YPQA) reviews, pre and post-testing, token polling, surveys, etc. to gather data regarding quality of program delivery and measurement of program outcomes. Completes reports on data including narrative analysis when appropriate to demonstrate program effectiveness or document areas of improvement. Manages administrative functions for Club programming and activities as required. Ensures programming schedule accountability, proper attendance recording and integrity, and data tool administration. Participates in the development and manages the implementation of annual Clubhouse programming objectives. Participates in the annual Impact Assessment Evaluation. Assists with the promotion and marketing of programming and related activities to members via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events, and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers, media, etc. Leadership/Management Schedules, organizes, and directs assignment of Program Directors, Career Developer, and program support staff. Responsible for programmatic related staff meetings and training. May serve as Clubhouse supervisor or support staff for clubhouse when needed. Ensures compliance and application of club programs, activities, and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes. Collaborates with all BGCSNV departments to ensure all program policies, procedures, and practices are complied with. Other Duties May be assigned to oversee special program areas and/or events (i.e. Keystone Club, Youth of the Year, Sports Leagues, etc.), and/or participate in the implementation of other Clubhouse activities. May be required to assist with BGCSNV special events. May be required to drive Club van periodically. May provide attention and direction to special needs children. May consult with parents concerning member and Clubhouse issues. May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g., education, child development, recreation and leisure, business administration) from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, planning and implementing activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • Five years of progressively responsible work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization/setting planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or three years of experience as a Clubhouse Director/Assistant Clubhouse Director.
  • Financial management skills to include budget preparation, monitoring, and cost control.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft and/or Google suite of productivity applications (Word, Excel, Forms, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to deal effectively with multi-age groups of children, small groups of children in activities and free play, and large groups of children in organized activities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with time constraints and handle multiple demands.
  • Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with the public and other professional staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for the safety, well-being, and work output of others.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience teaching or providing training.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff, and project management abilities.
  • Able to work occasional irregular or extended hours.
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Use of personal vehicle may be required with reimbursement for mileage at standard IRS rates.
  • Drug testing and fingerprint-based background checks are required as conditions of employment.
