About The Position

The Area Director of Business Travel Sales is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the transient business segment across three distinct properties. This role manages all local negotiated, corporate negotiated, government, and consortia accounts, ensuring optimal account penetration, production, and profitability. Serving as the primary point of contact for key business travel accounts, this role will develop and maintain relationships with corporate travel buyers, procurement professionals, travel management companies, and consortia representatives. The Area Director of Business Travel Sales will ensure the portfolio is well-positioned to capture premium corporate travel business in alignment with the hotels’ brand standards and revenue strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of hotel sales experience, with a strong background in business transient and corporate travel sales.
  • Direct experience managing LNR, corporate, government, and consortia segments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Marriott CI/TY and Amadeus Delphi.fdc is required.
  • Familiarity with Hilton and Marriott RFP systems, business travel platforms, and consortia networks.
  • Demonstrated success in managing strategic accounts, contract negotiations, and revenue growth.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and trends to inform decision-making and strategy.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple properties and priorities.
  • Ability to travel as needed to attend client meetings, brand events, and industry tradeshows.
  • Ability to travel (30-40%)
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds for trade show materials or promotional items.
  • Must be able to travel by car, plane, or other forms of transportation.
  • Flexible work schedule including occasional evenings and weekends to support client and travel requirements.
  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • Ability to provide and maintain a valid driver’s license as the position may require the operation of motorized and electric vehicles.

  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Azul Hospitality Group from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Upon employment, all staff is required to fully comply with Azul Hospitality Group rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, staff members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  • In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an annual strategic plan for business travel sales, aligned with each property's brand standards and revenue goals.
  • Solicit, negotiate, and secure local negotiated (LNR), national/corporate accounts, government per diem, and consortia business for all three properties.
  • Manage the full RFP process (including Hilton Lanyon and Marriott SFA platforms), responding accurately and timely to rate requests and travel program submissions.
  • Maintain proactive communication with top-producing accounts and travel management companies to maximize market share and share shift opportunities.
  • Monitor production, ensure rate compliance, and analyze account trends to drive revenue and retention.
  • Partner with revenue management to set rate strategies and monitor account performance within the transient segment.
  • Work closely with brand account teams (Hilton & Marriott) to participate in corporate programs and build brand-aligned businesses.
  • Collaborate with property and corporate teams to deliver VIP experiences and ensure fulfillment of negotiated program benefits.
  • Represent all three hotels at business travel tradeshows, client events, and industry forums.
  • Maintain accurate and updated records of all account activity, rate agreements, and correspondence in Marriott MarRFP, Hilton OnQ Solicitation Management (OnQ SM), Cvent Transient/Lanyon, and Amadeus Delphi.fdc.
  • Track performance and provide monthly reporting on production, booking pace, and account activity.
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit compliance for all negotiated rate programs.
  • All other duties assigned by manager or supervisor.
