About The Position

The Area Director for Metro Southwest is responsible for leading a team to fulfill Young Life's mission of introducing kids to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. This role involves spiritual leadership, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. The Area Director will develop a yearly personal growth plan, maintain relationships within the church community, and actively participate in the spiritual life of Young Life. They will also recruit and train staff, supervise area staff, and ensure effective fundraising strategies are in place to support the ministry's vision.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred.
  • Must have completed Core Training — Phase One.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • A call to reach kids with the Gospel.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in developing a team to carry out Young Life's mission.
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan for spiritual life.
  • Maintain relationships within the church community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Partner with the Regional director and Committee to cast vision.
  • Develop consistent gatherings with committee, leaders, and staff.
  • Create a spiritual leadership plan for volunteer leaders and staff.
  • Recruit and train new staff and leaders.
  • Supervise, develop, and evaluate area staff.
  • Provide quality summer staff and resources for summer camps.
  • Model excellence in contact work and club activities.
  • Develop and lead the area's fundraising strategy.
  • Raise necessary funds to carry out the ministry vision.
  • Build the Young Life brand through public relations.
  • Coordinate and conduct quality events.
  • Engage in all levels of contact work.
  • Lead or co-lead a model Young Life club.
  • Observe and evaluate local schools/ministries.
  • Develop ongoing plans for Gospel proclamation.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life property.
  • Manage finances with stewardship and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors.
  • Provide clear and professional communication.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
