About The Position

Position Title: Area Coordinator. Department: Residence Life. Classification: Exempt. FTE: 1.0. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; frequent evening and occasional weekend hours required; on-call for emergencies outside of regular working hours. Work Location: On Campus. Salary Range: $40,000 - $44,000 Essential Job Duties: Supervision and Training Responsibilities. Recruit, select, train, and directly supervise student staff. Supervision includes expectation setting, leadership development, performance evaluation, improvement plans and performance documentation and discipline. Support the community development model through programming, events and social connections. Support residential education initiatives such as Community Councils/the Residence Hall Association, Residential Learning Communities, and community programming. Management/Operations Responsibilities. Create a working relationship and establish a routine meeting structure with the facilities team (i.e. maintenance, trades and custodial services). Manage residential area budget for programmatic and developmental initiatives. Coordinate processes, including but not limited to: room inventories, room changes, health and safety inspections, work orders, damage billing, and opening and closing of the residence halls. Maintain and update the housing and occupancy management database. Support marketing, communications and public outreach initiatives. Student Care, Wellbeing, Conduct and Community Standards Establish and maintain contact with students and address student needs and concerns. Serve in an all-campus on-call rotation. Clearly document concerns and incidents via appropriate campus reporting procedures. Serve as a hearing officer, adjudicate cases, and hear appeals as assigned. College Contributions. Be front facing within the residence halls and at campus events. Serve on task forces and initiatives to support a diverse and creative residential experience. Participate in new student recruitment and yield and orientation events. Participate in benchmark data initiatives. Engage in foundation levels of qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community. Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization with a satisfactory driving record.
  • 2+ years residence life live-in experience
  • 1+year programming experience
  • Must live on-campus in the apartment provided.
  • Apartment is partially furnished.
  • Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.
