About The Position

The Area Coordinator, Community Standards, plays a crucial role in providing leadership and direction within a residence area housing approximately 250 residents at Babson College. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive residence education program that ensures a safe, inclusive, and developmental living environment. The Area Coordinator serves as a Student Accountability Officer, a secondary advisor to student representatives on the College's Hearing Board, and an investigator in cases of organizational and gender-based misconduct. The role involves creating and implementing programs and services that align with the mission of the Office of Community Standards and promote adherence to the Community Code of Student Conduct. In this position, the Area Coordinator provides essential support to undergraduate Resident Assistants (RAs) and Head Resident Assistants (HRAs), guiding them in residential programming, community building, and facilitating intentional learning opportunities. Regular community walk-throughs are conducted to ensure the well-being of residents, and the Area Coordinator collaborates closely with the Facilities Services department. The role also includes consulting with professional staff in both Residence Life and Community Standards to provide resources and support to students facing personal or mental health challenges, mediating roommate conflicts, and addressing community standards violations. The Area Coordinator serves as the primary advisor to 5-10 undergraduate clubs and organizations, managing processes related to move-in, move-out, and room changes. They are responsible for coordinating student billing for damages and conducting health and safety inspections. As an administrative hearing officer for non-academic cases, the Area Coordinator leads hearings that may result in significant consequences, such as loss of housing or suspension. They also assist in the training and development of the Babson College Hearing Board members and ensure that hearings are conducted in accordance with established procedures. Additionally, the Area Coordinator participates in crisis response as a member of the on-call administrative team, responding to campus emergencies and collaborating with local hospital staff and public safety. The position requires attendance at various meetings, including weekly Residence Life staff meetings and divisional meetings, and participation in campus-wide events and initiatives. The Area Coordinator is expected to assume additional responsibilities as needed, contributing to the overall mission of the College and the well-being of its students.
