This is a full-time position requiring weekend availability. SUMMARY: The Area Business Travel Sales Manager (ABTSM) is a position required to establish a client base of corporate individual travel and contract business through direct outside and inside sales efforts. This Manager will develop and nurture relationships with key clients in order to maintain and grow production as well as research demand generators within the local market to identify opportunities to gain market share. The BTSM should be familiar with using reports and data analysis to monitor market conditions. Implementation and development of strategic plans and actions that support the goals of the market with a heavy focus on outside sales including client entertainment, in-house events, presentations, networking and attendance at industry events is required. This individual must be able to negotiate guest room rates and execute contracts along with developing comprehensive, creative proposals that address client needs. The ABTSM will need to monitor internal account production to gauge success.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • 4+ years hotel sales experience
  • Aggressive, outgoing, and self-motivating individual with a pleasant personality
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the Grand Rapids market
  • Previous Agency360 experience
  • Previous Marriott/Hilton/Hyatt sales experience
  • Must be able to close the sale and able to meet aggressive business travel sales targets.
  • Thorough knowledge of sales techniques
  • Must become familiar with hotel layout, products, services, amenities, and history
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Word and Excel to produce monthly reports

Responsibilities

  • Implementation and development of strategic plans and actions that support the goals of the market with a heavy focus on outside sales including client entertainment, in-house events, presentations, networking and attendance at industry events is required.
  • Negotiate guest room rates and execute contracts along with developing comprehensive, creative proposals that address client needs.
  • Monitor internal account production to gauge success.
  • Build and maintain both a transient and consortia business market resulting in increased revenue growth.
  • Develop strategic plans to positively impact business and contract travel markets.
  • Aggressively pursue new business through weekly, tracked outbound solicitation efforts, ensuring measurable pipeline growth.
  • Identify, target, and convert new corporate accounts to drive market share from the competitive set.
  • Ability to process Rate for Proposals (RFPs) in a timely and accurate manner, evaluating each opportunity for strategic alignment with revenue objectives, gap periods, and ADR optimization.
  • Collaborate with property teams to deliver on client expectations while leveraging their insights to uncover and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Process daily, weekly, and monthly reporting as needed by the Regional Director of Sales and the VP of Revenue Management.
  • Make onsite and field presentations to prospective clients
  • Become actively involved in local community to develop business
