About The Position
The Area Apartment Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality and functionality of apartment units and property facilities within a designated region. Reporting directly to the Regional Vice President (RVP), this position requires the technician to travel among various properties to perform essential maintenance and repairs. The technician collaborates closely with on-site maintenance teams, operating under the general supervision of the property manager and the direct supervision of the service manager. Key technical responsibilities include diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, as well as addressing issues related to electrical appliances, plumbing, carpentry, and locks. The technician is also responsible for preventative maintenance tasks and preparing vacant units for new occupants. The successful candidate will embody and reinforce the core values of Mid-America Apartment Communities (MAA), which emphasize appreciation for individual uniqueness, open communication, and integrity in all actions. In addition to technical skills, the Area Apartment Maintenance Technician must be adept at managing service work orders, prioritizing requests, and ensuring that maintenance tasks adhere to MAA standards. This role may also involve assisting with short-term staffing needs and performing various maintenance tasks, including painting, cleaning carpets, and conducting swimming pool maintenance. The technician must maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and policies. The position requires flexibility, as the technician may work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the demands of a 24-hour maintenance guarantee.
