About The Position

This posting is for the 2025-26 school year. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate, plan, and prepare compliance documents for students eligible for Special Education Services. The individual will be responsible for chairing, or co-chairing, ARD meetings, and will serve more than one campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned.
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, local laws, and guidelines and procedures.
  • Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area.
  • Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation.
  • Experience in adapting and implementing curriculum to meet individual learning and behavioral needs.
  • Knowledge about instructional materials, technology, and state evaluation methods.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Skill in working in collaborative team-based environments.
  • Skill in working with and presenting to diverse populations of students, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement in decision making, especially in difficult circumstances.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience, including experience teaching disabled and other students with diverse learning needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Special Education Management System or other computer based documentation system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, or assists in scheduling, Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and notifies parents of the ARD meeting, including distribution of ARD calendar to appropriate ARD Committee members in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures that federal/state timelines are met with respect to functions of ARD Committee meetings.
  • Monitors ARD paperwork completed by campus personnel and ensures timely submission.
  • Completes lists, forms, reports, PEIMS forms, and data required by the Special Education Office by due dates.
  • Maintains current state assessment test lists and referral lists for related services evaluation.
  • Provides for systematic communication among special and general education personnel.
  • Completes applicable ARD supplements with accompanying data collected by campus staff.
  • Follows end of year procedures for folder exchanges and summer testing.
  • Assists campus administrator(s) to ensure compliance with mandates for due process guaranteed to students with disabilities.
  • Maintains thorough documentation regarding any significant problems with ARD Committee procedures.
  • Attends Special Education Department staff meetings and relevant professional development.
  • Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records and other documents required.
  • Complies with requirements of federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all student and special education information.
  • Maintains positive community relations by establishing positive rapport with students and parents.
  • Attends all required training as directed.
