About The Position

At the GS-07 level you will perform developmental duties, as assigned. At the Full Performance Level (GS-09) you will perform the duties listed below: You will establish internal or external relationships of record groups or series, trace the history of the originating agency or the evolution of particular functions, and establish the authenticity or completeness of information. You will conduct research and provide information in response to reference service requests. You will analyze and arrange bodies of records by studying the origin and subject-matter content of the records and by conducting research. You will collect current operational records which are generated over the course of Navy Command's or agency's day-to-day operations. You will input information into tracking systems for bodies of records which are regularly submitted by Navy Commands. You will translate hard copy records relating to the Navy's operational history into digital format and make records available online.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Appointment of retired military members within 180 days of retirement is subject to provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.
  • Must be able to move records exceeding 40 pounds in weight.
  • May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in professional archival work in appraising, accessioning, arranging, describing, preserving, publishing or providing reference service from public records and historic documents.
  • Experience in digitizing archival materials.
  • Experience in maintaining collection record keeping using an automated archival database.
