The Clarke Historical Library's Archives and Reference Specialist will play a vital role in two key teams: Archives and Public Services. This position involves assisting with the processing of a diverse range of digital and print archives under the guidance of the Archivist, as well as providing reference and outreach services under the direction of the Public Services Librarian. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring that archival collections are accessible for research, which includes tasks such as arranging, describing, and creating finding aids for various formats of archival materials. Additionally, the role requires providing excellent reference services both in-person and through various communication channels, ensuring positive interactions for researchers of all skill levels. The specialist will also support public services operations, including instruction and outreach, and may be required to staff Clarke events as needed. In this position, the Archives and Reference Specialist will stay current with public services standards and practices in archival and special collections. They will also be expected to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of users, including students, faculty, staff, and the community, demonstrating a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The role requires the ability to perform desk-based computer tasks for extended periods and to work in a team-based environment where collaboration, flexibility, and creativity are essential. The position is full-time and may require evening and weekend work as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of library services.
