About The Position

The Oshkosh Community YMCA is dedicated to building a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all individuals and families in our community. We strive to foster a sense of belonging and support through our diverse programs and services, including youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to assist in sorting, reviewing, and cataloging the YMCA archives. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in history, archiving, or nonprofit administration to gain hands-on experience while contributing to the preservation of our organization’s rich heritage. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in History, Archives Management, Library Science, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for history and community service.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and organize historical documents, photographs, and artifacts related to the Oshkosh Community YMCA.
  • Review materials to determine their relevance and significance to the YMCA's history.
  • Assist with cataloging items and creating a database for easy access and retrieval.
  • Collaborate with YMCA staff to ensure accurate documentation and preservation methods.
  • Support in creating displays or presentations to share the history of the YMCA with the community.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute ideas for future archive projects.
