About The Position

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast. GMC has an opening for Architecture Project Manager to support on-going projects in our Auburn, AL office. This is an opportunity for an individual to grow and use their talents as a leader on assigned projects. This role provides the chance to work in GMC’s evolving and growing office. The role will consist of managing multiple assigned architecture projects at various stages, leading and mentoring staff assigned to your team, and include overseeing timely and profitable completion. These projects will include primarily Sports Architecture type projects. The qualified candidate will consult daily with clients, participate in or be the design lead, technical decisions, preparation of contract documents, coordinate bidding and award, coordinate with reviewing agencies, construction administration coordination project closeout, coordinate project schedules. In summary the position holds a tremendous opportunity to be the lead architect on all facets of the work we do here in Auburn, AL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture minimum
  • 7+ years experience working as project manager or equal role
  • Licensure as a registered architect is preferred
  • Must have advanced knowledge of REVIT
  • Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft Suite
  • Must have an understanding of building design, including engineered systems
  • Must be able to listen and communicate effectively
  • Must be a self-starter, team player and able to establish good working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, team members, and other employees
  • Must be able to perform work related travel and hold a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to evaluate their desires/needs and develop designs that meets their goals
  • Generate, produce, and coordinate project and construction documents
  • Communicate information with clients and project team members/consultants to ensure project objectives are met
  • Meet with contractors to convey building design intentions, resolve problems and answer questions
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants regarding design and interaction of systems
  • Manage projects with a high degree of technical complexity from start to finish
  • Understand and apply federal, state and local building codes, planning and zoning regulations and standard design practices to project
  • Develop schedule(s) for project throughout the document stage, as well as internal budget(s) for production of project(s)
  • Organize file and project documents in accordance with GMC standards
