About The Position

Join us and design your place with Stantec. This is an Industrial Architectural Intern design role. You will work on tasks with close guidance and direction from a Project Manager or Industrial Designer. You will be primarily working on, but may not be limited to, Transit and Municipal projects. Tasks may include space programming, site planning, developing building drawings including elevations, sections, schedules, and details. You will be assisting with innovative and creative new prototypes for our team, designing with efficiency in mind, and have the opportunity to attend both project team and client meetings. The development of AXP credits is a fundamental principal for Stantec Architecture and being an active member of our team will help you achieve licensure by offering a breadth of experience.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of utilizing technology as a design tool.
  • Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • To interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
  • Requires understanding of 3D modeling software including, but not limited to Revit, AutoCAD, 3DS Max, Rhino, SketchUp.
  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture or Industrial Engineering.
  • Typical office environment involves working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
  • Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
  • Expectations are that you will be in the office for a minimum of three days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of computational design tools such as Grasshopper and Dynamo is not required but desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material.
  • Supports project team in development of design documentation.
  • Assists in the development of a design through sketches, research, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
  • Utilizes BIM technologies in development of 3D models of buildings and their components.
  • Assists in research of concept, benchmarks, typology, and precedents as it relates to Transit and Municipal projects.
