About The Position

Requirements

  • Student pursuing the educational equivalent of a bachelor's degree from a program of study accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Accreditation Education (CHEA) and completion of 60 college hours toward this degree.
  • Students must be majoring in architectural history, historic preservation, or a closely related field, and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel/stay overnight for extended periods of time;
  • Proactive and able to work independently;
  • Dependable, well-organized, and detail-oriented;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Basic knowledge of use of GPS equipment;
  • Physical ability to withstand fieldwork in various weather conditions, including ability to traverse rugged terrain

Responsibilities

  • Conduct historic structure surveys along highway corridors
  • Assist with the analysis and National Register of Historic Places eligibility determinations of historic structural resources
  • Generate associated report documentation
  • GPS data collection
  • Analysis of records, sources, historic maps, aerial imagery, and field data
