In partnership with Metrolinx, ACCIONA is playing a key role in the design and construction of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE), a 9.2-kilometre westward addition to Toronto's Line 5 light rail transit network. This major infrastructure project includes seven new stations and installation of rail and systems under a progressive design-build model. Beyond its technical scope, the ECWE project represents a significant investment in sustainable urban mobility, expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 5,800 tonnes annually and eliminate over 6.5 million vehicle trips each year when combined with the full Line 5. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in architectural estimation.
  • Proficiency in reading drawings and using estimation software.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to project changes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for architectural components of LRT infrastructure, including stations, platforms, facades, interior finishes, public spaces, and support facilities.
  • Perform quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and models (2D/3D/BIM).
  • Develop and maintain unit rates and cost databases for architectural materials and labor.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction managers to validate constructability, scope, and cost impacts.
  • Support value engineering efforts by analyzing cost-saving alternatives and design modifications.
  • Assist in tender preparation, bid evaluation, and subcontractor/vendor analysis.
  • Provide input for project budgets, cost plans, and change order reviews.
  • Ensure estimates comply with local codes, standards, and LRT project specifications.
  • Track market trends in construction materials and labor costs, particularly for architectural trades.
  • Support risk analysis, contingency planning, and reporting for architectural scope items.
