About the position

A small Architectural Firm is currently hiring for a fully remote Architectural Designer. This is going to support a small firm of 4 employees, including the owner of the company. This position requires several non-negotiable qualifications, which are: 1) Revit, 2) Residential Projects, and 3) Wood Framing experience. This is going to be an ongoing contract opportunity that is set as a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. This position is going to be a heads-down and heavy production role that requires a lot of independent work. The hours for this role will be around 30-40 hours a week, which depends on the project volume.

Responsibilities

  • Will utilize Revit.
  • Responsible for project-specific design analysis and drafting, graphics, and drawing production, under the direction of a Project Architect or Project Manager.
  • Will be involved in permitting processes, including jurisdiction-specific code checks.
  • Working with energy codes and spreadsheet documentation.
  • Will perform hands-on work with technical design, flashing details, custom building components...etc.
  • Support technical design and drawing preparation for submittals beyond drafting.

Requirements

  • [Non-negotiable] Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a relevant degree.
  • [Non-negotiable] 2-4 years of professional experience.
  • [Non-negotiable] Must have a portfolio and references available to send over for consideration.
  • [Non-negotiable] Must have a minimum of 1+ years of Revit.
  • [Non-negotiable] Must have Residential project experience, specifically with Wood Framing.
  • Work experience designing residential building types including: detached single-family homes, accessory dwelling units, townhomes, multifamily, and mixed-use buildings, and/or hotels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience designing in Type VA & VB construction and wood light-frame in particular.
  • Experience with permitting processes.
  • Comfortable working in a heavy, heads-down production role.
  • Comfortable working in a small firm of 4 employees.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setting.
