About The Position

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Architectural Designer III to join our talented team at our office in Burlington, Massachusetts. In this role, you will work with a team of Designers, Architects, and Engineers to assist with the design and development of architectural projects to help meet or exceed the expectations of the customer (client). You may supervise a less senior designer, but you will primarily work on the technical aspects of a project. The salary offered for this role is between $83,000 and $127,000, but the actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set, and education.

Requirements

  • 6-8 years of previous architectural design office experience.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of Autodesk Revit and possess a strong understanding of BIM workflows.
  • General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system design.
  • The ability to exhibit and develop strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.
  • This position will have 5-20% travel, or as required by the assigned project. Position may be assigned to the client site for an extended period.
  • Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client’s location is possible, depending on the assignment.

  • Position will visit Client sites and will be required to adhere to stated safety rules.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.
  • This position is a safety-sensitive position.
  • The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
  • All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually, with video required.

Nice To Haves

  • Life Sciences Industry experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree; Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree with NAAB Accreditation.
  • Having a fundamental understanding of building codes.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of the design documentation for the following design phases: master planning, schematic, preliminary, and construction documentation.
  • Assists more senior department personnel and Architectural Designers I&II with design solutions by having the ability to interpret drawing mark-up drawings and execute changes on the project based on such mark-ups.
  • Uses Revit to develop architectural design documentation that aligns with company BIM/CAD standards.
  • Reviews drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.
  • Ability to work as a team member and capable of interpreting the Project Architect's design requests.
  • Proactively alerting team members of a project design change that may affect the time and costs of the project.
  • Keeps the Project Team aware of workload and requests work when needed.
  • Works with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.
  • Interacts with clients on a limited basis to secure scope and design intent.
  • Ensure acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to assure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
  • Participate in architectural design work, coordinating with related engineering disciplines.
  • Supports field visits and site surveys when accompanied by more senior departmental personnel.
  • Capable of creating renderings, generating diagrams, and special projects as assigned.
