Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues. T he Role We have an immediate opportunity for a Forensic Architect with experience or interest in forensic investigation, litigation support, expert witness testifying, and design of architectural repairs and retrofits. This individual will be expected to independently execute architectural investigations of existing buildings and to identify and possibly design remedial repairs for deficient conditions. The investigations include assessment of building code deficiencies, of fire-rated assemblies, of building envelope (including roofs and facades), and cause and origin analysis. The candidate will be required to provide direction to, and review the work product of, junior level staff; coordinate with other project managers on interdisciplinary efforts; support business development efforts; and develop and maintain client relationships.

Requirements

  • Degree (Master’s preferred) in Architecture or Architectural Engineering.
  • Professional License required.
  • 8+ years of experience preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, experience with Revit a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct assessments of building envelopes, fire-rated construction, and other architectural elements, including cause and origin investigations.
  • Observe, document, and review testing protocols and related materials, including documentation for litigation support.
  • Analyze building codes, industry standards, and construction documents; design repairs for defective construction.
  • Manage, mentor, and perform peer reviews of junior staff, including drafting construction documents and condition assessments with order-of-magnitude cost estimating.
  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements, memorialize findings in reports, and prepare materials for presentations.
  • Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings.
  • Potentially testify in arbitration, deposition, or trial.
