About The Position

Shive-Hattery's West Des Moines, IA office has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Architect with 10+ years of experience in the business development, design, and leadership of architectural projects. As an architect on the Industrial team, you will be collaborating with multi-discipline teams within the West Des Moines office and across the entire Shive-Hattery ecosystem on local, regional, and national projects. We are a full-service design firm offering interior design, architecture, engineering, and landscape architecture. In this role, you will lead architectural design and project management efforts for projects serving primarily industrial and government clients.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited professional degree program with a bachelor's degree or master's degree in architecture or have equivalent education and experience.
• Licensed architect is a requirement.
• Proven experience in relationship building, business development, winning work, and leading project teams through every phase of the design process.
• Developed excellent communication skills which set you apart in the profession.
• Continuously demonstrate a high degree of aptitude in critical, creative thinking associated with design and the design process.
• Knowledge of programming, planning, and building materials systems and performance.
• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code and current ADA requirements.
• Have led project stakeholder engagement sessions with owners, and users.
• Self-motivated and able to problem-solve independently while understanding and supporting the importance of collaboration across project teams and disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and project management with design discussions, idea generation, collaboration, and design work in drawing, modeling and 3D image formats.
• Direct non-licensed and other professionals assigned to design, produce and coordinate the design process and technical documents.
• Attend project and client meetings with design professionals for both business development opportunities and projects under contract.
• Develop technical design solutions.
• Assist in design presentation development.
