Ballinger is seeking an Architect to lead and collaborate with team members through programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, construction documentation, and construction administration activities. This position works directly with the firm’s Architectural, Engineering and Design teams to work on innovative projects and interact with clients.

Requirements

  • Self-starter, able to independently generate design solutions and provide direction to other team members
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take direction within a larger team
  • Develop design or technical solutions under the supervision of the Project Architect and/or team
  • Self-starter, able to independently generate design solutions and direction to other team members.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, or other modeling software applications
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Architecture or equivalent; BS or BA degree in Interiors or knowledge gained over years of work experience
  • Five (5) to 15 years’ experience preferred
  • Professional Registration
  • Working knowledge of current Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstration of superior technical skills, dedication, and ownership of work

Responsibilities

  • Assignments may include working with a team through programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, construction documentation, and construction administration activities
  • Conduct design-related research
  • Work with external consultants, product reps, and fabricators
  • Interface and coordinate with other disciplines
  • Mentor team members with less experience
  • Develop knowledge of Ballinger’s project types (health care, academic/lab/research, corporate/workspace) through on-the-job experience, repetition, and scalability of tasks and responsibilities
  • Participate in construction administration related activities as applicable to level of responsibility by project
  • Travel as project requirements dictate for surveys and field/site visits during construction
  • Produce 3D renderings
  • Pick up and generate redlines in a documentation set
  • Accountability for budget adherence
  • Provide mentorship with discipline and actively share knowledge
  • Create and maintain firm standards
  • Ability to engage in internal project leadership (lead a component of discipline during the design/coordination phases
  • Produce field site visit reports as applicable to the level of responsibility by project
  • Initiates level of responsiveness and collaboration with contractors and clients
  • Perform ongoing studies for process improvement
  • Initiate industry network, potentially through local events, speaking, or conferences where applicable
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, combined with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
