About The Position

The Architect position at American Electric Power involves performing architectural work activities and managing projects related to building design and construction. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering from an NAAB-accredited program.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as an Architect.
• NCARB Certification in any U.S. state is required.
• Proficient in the use of MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• Valid state driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in architecture preferred.
• Experience in identifying business opportunities for the organizational unit.

Responsibilities

• Perform architectural work activities and manage projects related to building design and construction.
• Develop approved project scopes from programming and site evaluation through final documents for bidding and permitting.
• Make technical decisions based on calculated risks without management review.
• Identify, resolve, and initiate solutions to complex problems unique to the organizational unit.
• Lead in the preparation and presentation of complex designs to senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Build teams and networks across AEP and other organizations.
• Coordinate work activities of others and assume project management roles for assigned tasks.
• Develop and implement plans to address organizational unit issues within specialized design expertise.
