JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY The Architect typically reports to the Director of Architecture and is a key member of the design and delivery team. This role works closely with Project Managers, the Design Manager, and cross-functional teams, providing architectural leadership across all project phases from concept through construction, including Design and Design-Build projects. The primary objective of the Architect is to build, support, and advance established architectural initiatives leveraged by the Design Manager, both in the office and in the field, across CDCC and CDE business units. The Architect provides architectural leadership and guidance throughout the full project lifecycle—from design and construction through facilities management—ensuring that design solutions align with client goals, budget, code, constructability, and long-term operational performance.

Requirements

  • Strong conceptual design and detailing skills
  • Proficiency in Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and visualization tools
  • Clear and persuasive communication (written, verbal, visual)
  • Collaborative, agile mindset with strong organizational skills
  • Deep understanding of building codes, ADA, sustainability standards, and construction practices
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with trends in design, materials, and technology
  • Professional Degree from a NAAB-accredited Program (Bachelor of Architecture, min.)
  • 10 years experience in an architectural firm or closely related field.
  • Licensed Architect, willing to pursue NCARB Certification and Georgia Registration
  • Proficiency in BIM/CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to define project goals, budget, schedule, and program requirements
  • Conduct feasibility studies, zoning/code analyses, and site/building assessments
  • Lead or support strategic planning, facility evaluations, and design visioning sessions
  • Leverage experience in preconstruction and construction processes to inform early design decisions and improve project outcomes
  • Provide architectural leadership for Design and Design-Build projects from concept through construction
  • Translate client needs into creative, technically sound, and constructible design solutions
  • Develop and present preliminary concepts using BIM, 3D visualization, rendered images, videos, and iterative modeling
  • Produce construction documents, including drawings and specifications, aligned with project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Deliver required design and documentation milestones throughout schematic design, design development, and construction documents phases
  • Coordinate across disciplines to integrate structural, MEP, civil, and landscape elements
  • Continue development and refinement of drafting standards, templates, and libraries to support efficient and consistent design workflows
  • Prepare design visuals, narratives, and marketing materials in support of project pursuits and business development efforts
  • Provide construction administration services including site visits, RFIs, submittal review, and punch lists
  • Troubleshoot and resolve field conditions or design conflicts in collaboration with contractors and consultants
  • Apply strong knowledge of construction means and methods, including the use of technology across projects of varying size and complexity
  • Support 5D and model-based estimating collaboration with Preconstruction teams
  • Ensure alignment of final construction with design intent, quality standards, and client expectations
  • Facilitate project meetings, presentations, and design charrettes with internal teams and clients
  • Serve as a technical and design mentor to junior team members and contribute to a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Preconstruction, and Field teams to support integrated project delivery
  • Act as a trusted client partner throughout the project lifecycle
