The Architect - Engineering & Construction position involves responsible work in producing contract documents and architectural design for building construction or landscape projects. The role encompasses pre-design meetings, design and construction document development, project management, and facility audits, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and codes.

  • Meet with campus personnel to define research construction project scopes, analyze space requirements and constraints, prepare budgets, and develop schedules.
  • Develop architectural/interior designs that fulfill program requirements and comply with Texas Accessibility Standards and campus architectural standards.
  • Prepare research construction documents and conduct formal design reviews with campus personnel.
  • Obtain written approval from campus authorities for research construction projects and submit documents to a registered accessibility specialist as required by TDLR.
  • Obtain and evaluate proposals from vendors necessary for project execution, ensuring budget compliance.
  • Initiate the development of research construction contracts and corresponding purchase orders.
  • Conduct regular construction progress meetings and site visits to monitor adherence to construction documents.
  • Develop design solutions for unforeseen site conditions and track project expenses for budget adherence.
  • Issue a Certificate of Substantial Completion and ensure completion of punch-list items during project closeout.
  • Participate in facility audits to inspect existing campus facilities for code compliance and provide recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture required.
  • Three years of professional work experience related to the specific assigned area.
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating programs, AutoCAD, Revit, and Building Information Management (BIM) software.
  • Ability to design and review technical criteria, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience presenting to consulting engineers and customers.
  • Compensation commensurate with qualifications and budgetary guidelines.
  • Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with health and safety regulations.
