Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Designer to join our Architecture team in our Richmond, VA office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

  • Consults with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Plans layout of project and integrating engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval.
  • Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
  • Represents client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contract.
  • Administers construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
  • Prepares studies and reports.
  • Prepares project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment.
  • Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
  • Resolves client problems and complaints and provides technical advice to project staff.
  • Performs final quality assurance/buildability review of project documents.
  • Signs and seals project documents prepared under his supervision.
  • Understands and obeys site safety requirements for construction sites.
  • Knowledge of the art and science of designing buildings and structures, styles of design, and methods of construction of buildings and other physical structures.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret written communication, specifications and drawings.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals or government regulations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and other discipline specific software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
