Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National status is required.
• Must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
• A degree in archaeology or a related field with specific coursework is required.
• Experience in archaeological work demonstrating knowledge of professional archaeology principles is necessary.
• Must maintain a valid State Driver's License for operation of government vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform all NHPA compliance activities, including preparation of cultural resource and historic property documents.
• Identify cultural resource impacts associated with planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of Reclamation projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, hydrologists, planners, and other specialists to minimize or mitigate adverse impacts to cultural resources.
• Serve as a cultural resource liaison to federal agencies, Indian tribes, and local entities regarding NHPA compliance.
• Prepare special technical reports related to museum and historic properties, and provide technical assistance for report preparation.
• Review and interpret reports to ensure compliance with Reclamation standards.
• Advise on NHPA and related cultural resources legislation to Area Office staff and management.
