About The Position

Founded in 1964, TTL is an engineering design firm focused on delivering integrated infrastructure solutions for public and private clients, from site and corridor selection to due diligence, design, and construction services. With over 500 team members, TTL provides civil design, surveying, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting and remediation, and materials testing/inspection/observation. TTL is seeking an archaeological technician to support its growing cultural resources team on cultural resource management (CRM) projects across Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and surrounding states. This role involves archaeological fieldwork and laboratory analysis to support regulatory compliance, resource preservation, and sustainable development initiatives. The ideal candidate will assist with surveys, site evaluations, excavations, and artifact processing while maintaining accurate field documentation and adhering to established methods and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited archaeological field school
  • Ability to travel to project sites and conduct fieldwork for long hours in outdoor (hot or cold) environments, sometimes in inclement weather and rugged terrain. Anticipate frequent overnight travel as needed for projects.
  • Project schedules may include a 10-day work rotation with 4 days off
  • Ability to carry equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Valid Driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to professionally communicate both orally and in writing

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology or a closely related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct archaeological surveys and field testing, including shovel test pits and excavation units
  • Document fieldwork using forms, photography, mapping, and GPS under archaeologist supervision
  • Identify and record artifacts, cultural features, and site boundaries during surveys and excavations
  • Perform basic artifact analysis, documentation, and photography
  • Bag, label, catalog, and process artifacts for laboratory analysis
  • Maintain accurate field records and assist with site mapping, navigation, and orientation using GPS and a compass
  • Operate and maintain field and screening equipment in compliance with safety protocols
  • Support laboratory tasks, including cleaning, sorting, and preliminary classification of artifacts
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent and efficient field methods and support overall project objectives
