The Great Basin Institute, in cooperation with the USFS, is recruiting an Archaeological Technician to assist with National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 Cultural Resource compliance work for a variety of fuels treatment, restoration and other projects throughout Inyo National Forest. These projects all serve the Cultural Resources Program’s greater mission of helping the USFS in their critical goal of improving forest resilience in the face of worsening climate conditions and increased wildfire threats. The work that you will do directly improves the quality of these forests helping ensure they continue to thrive for generations to come. The position provides professional development and leadership opportunities in cultural resource management, including increased exposure and responsibility to USFS processes, procedures and compliance measures, reporting standards, data entry, management and quality assurance, and interacting with other disciplines in a team environment. You will perform a variety of activities to support all stages of project implementation from pre-field research to implementation. Note: This position is contingent upon final funding approval. Employment offers and start dates may be adjusted based on the availability and confirmation of funding. Project timeline: 28 weeks, full time, start date May 1st 2026
