We are seeking a Archaeology Field Technician to join our team in Atlanta, GA. Field technician openings are classified as temporary, part-time positions on a project-by-project basis. Motivated applicants will be considered for a full-time position with benefits. AtkinsRéalis is a world-class engineering services and nuclear organization. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or closely related field.
  • Completion of an archaeology field school that included training in pedestrian survey and shovel testing.
  • Experience identifying and accurately reporting archaeological features and artifacts.
  • Ability to produce field maps and sketches quickly and accurately.
  • Comfortable with technology including professional GPS and survey equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying field conditions, walk long distances, carry up to 40 pounds of equipment, stoop, and squat.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct archaeological surveys and document findings under the supervision of the Project Archaeologist and/or Crew Chief.
  • Perform fieldwork including pedestrian survey, shovel testing, monitoring, and testing.
  • Keep accurate and comprehensive field notes.
  • Photo document artifacts, project areas, and sites.
  • Electronically document shovel tests and site locations.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good order.
  • Follow instructions precisely and pay close attention to detail.
  • Communicate technical information effectively.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Be available to work extended field rotations (10-12 days at a time).
