About The Position

The Metropolitan Historical Commission is a municipal historic preservation
agency working to document history, save and reuse buildings, and make the
public more aware of the necessity and advantages of preservation in Nashville
and Davidson County, Tennessee.

Internship Description/Learning
Objectives:Participating in archaeological field excavation and artifact
processing. Working with historical documents and photos; file organization
systems; cataloging databases; researching and writing skills

Responsibilities

• Excavating test units
• Cleaning, sorting, and cataloging artifacts
• Scanning and sorting documents and images
• Entering data into library database
• Creating social media posts
• Other routine office work
