As an intern, you’ll work alongside our experienced practitioners and with our clients and communities. This hands-on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success. Your Opportunity An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, personable, and organized undergraduate student majoring in Archaeology or Anthropology or a related major. As an emerging professional, you will be working with a multi-disciplinary team in the office and at project site locations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Main responsibilities include shadowing or assisting field staff with a variety of archaeological investigations and associated tasks. This position will be based out of our Richmond, Virginia, office and will require overnight travel and working at remote field sites. You will work directly with Stantec’s archaeologists, field team leads, and technicians, in addition to being assigned a mentor who will work one-on-one with you. This position will be a maximum of 40 hours a week.

Proven technical, communication, and organizational skills
Proficient in MS Office applications
Ability to endure long days of physically and mentally challenging field work
Ability to walk long distances on uneven ground
Ability to work safely in poor weather conditions
Possess a positive solutions-oriented attitude
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with a team
Ability to work in a dynamic environment
Strong work ethics and integrity
Sense of humor and desire for team success
Good driving record and valid driver’s license
Ability to navigate on the road and in the field in remote areas
Enrolled in an accredited University or College and pursuing a degree in Archaeology or Anthropology (or related field)
A minimum of 4 undergraduate semesters in one of the above majors
Demonstrated experience in applied field Ecology
