What a day at EXP has in store for you As an Archaeological Field Technician, you’ll assist archaeologists in the field with excavation, survey, and documentation of archaeological sites. You’ll be part of a team working in remote environments, contributing to the discovery and preservation of cultural resources.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology.
- Completion of an accredited archaeological field school.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Proficiency with GPS, total stations, and digital data recording systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to hike long distances and carry loads up to 30 pounds.
- Attention to detail, resourcefulness, and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities
- Excavation : Dig test pits or trenches, screen soil, and carefully recover artifacts.
- Survey : Conduct ground and aerial surveys to identify archaeological sites.
- Documentation : Record findings through detailed notes, photographs, maps, and forms.
- Artifact handling : Clean, catalog, label, and bag artifacts and samples.
- Data organization : Organize field notes and data for analysis and reporting.
