About The Position

The Arcadia Regulation and Prevention Technician, Wildland Fire Management Supervisor (WFMS) position is a full-time, permanent role based in Deer Park, WA, under the Department of Natural Resources. This position is crucial for the Arcadia Fire Control program, which oversees wildfire suppression, prevention, and regulation across four counties, including Spokane, Pend Oreille, Stevens, and Lincoln. The district manages approximately 100,000 acres of state trust land and responds to around 300 fire starts annually while processing about 400 burn permit requests. The role involves significant interagency cooperation, working closely with local fire districts and state and federal partners to ensure effective fire management and training courses for local cooperators. As a Regulation & Prevention Technician, the individual will have a substantial impact on public perception and communication regarding fire management in Washington State. The position requires administering and approving burn permits, interpreting fire regulations, conducting wildland fire investigations, and participating in fire suppression activities. The technician will also serve as a Wildland Fire Investigator and lead instructor for NWCG fire courses, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced and complex work environment.
