About The Position

The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods we are able to provide the financial support to assist men and women with a variety of social and spiritual afflictions. The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. All our effort is focused on developing life skills and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. More than just a job, each member of the team contributes to recycling goods that literally recycle and repair broken lives. The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Sales and Production Associate to work in a production store and be responsible to perform a wide variety of duties in the store and the production area. The Sales and Production Associate will maintain order and create and sustain a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
• Assist, as required, with store operations.
• Serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
• Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy.
• Handle merchandise as directed, always maintaining proper categories and colorization.
• Ensure that store is sufficiently stocked and 'ragged out' in accordance with the 'ARC COMMAND RAG OUT CALENDAR.'
• Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property.
• Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and any unsafe equipment or conditions to management.
• Maintain a clean and clutter free work area.
• Be well-versed in and comply with, Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual.
• Support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing to beneficiaries; an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed by Supervisor).
• Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor, Store Supervisor, Assistant Store Supervisor, and/or Administrator.
• Comply with all cash handling and security standards as relates to cash register operations, daily sales reports and bank deposits.
• Sort, price, stock and 'rag out' showcase merchandise and other areas as directed.
• Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code.
• Maintain merchandise displays as directed.
• Answer telephone calls in an efficient, friendly, professional manner.
• Sort minimum of 300 store quality garments an hour by department.
• Assist moving the donations to the sorting table as needed.
• Assist with hanging merchandise as needed.
• Hang and ticket a minimum of 225 pieces per hour of clothing on rolling racks from sorting table by department on the correct hanger type, and by category in an 8 hour period.
• Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour using a wide range of prices determined by the style, quality and condition of each piece.
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of name brand merchandise and value.
• Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category and color order.
• Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.
• Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
• Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags and accessory donations daily.
• Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required.
• Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily as required.
• Sort, clean and test all electrical and furniture donations as required.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the sales floor, bathrooms, entry, windows, sidewalks and parking areas daily.
• Accept donations in accordance with standard policies while providing courteous, respectful service to the donor.
• Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.
• Ensure a constant flow of donations to the sorting table throughout the day.
• Assist with ragging out the sales floor as assigned.
• Bale ragouts and trash as required.
• Perform lawn and garden work as needed.
