About The Position

The Arborist Tree Climber position at The Davey Tree Expert Company involves trimming and removing trees, as well as removing unwanted, diseased, or dying limbs to ensure the health and safety of trees and surrounding areas. The role requires climbing trees using various climbing systems and operating as an active crew member alongside the ground crew and foreman. Responsibilities include performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients, which encompasses pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy, installing cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems, and removing hazardous trees. Additionally, the position requires proper maintenance, preparation, and operation of all tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.

Requirements

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey first aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreman.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
