SALARY RANGE: $39,511.00 - $57,438.00 District Court 10, serving Wake County, seeks a qualified candidate to perform a variety of tasks to support the Trial Court Administrator's Office with administrative responsibilities and court ordered Arbitration.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: case management principles; calendaring rules and procedures; computer based tracking and calendaring systems; court system and organization; court procedures; and legal terminology; interpersonal skills to work with court personnel and the general public; organizational skills to monitor case activity and prepare court calendars.
  • Skills in: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to: Use office automation equipment to prepare legal documents and maintain case tracking systems; learn specific laws, rules and regulations relating to the court system and programs; effectively manage time; multi-task; prioritize assignments; courteously assist the public and co-workers; effectively communicate both orally and in writing; be resourceful in answering unusual inquiries and questions; and independently compose correspondence following established guidelines.
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in court administration, criminal justice, public administration, business, or a related field, and one year of experience in the court system to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work described; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as initial point of contact between the Trial Court Administrator’s Office, the public, and members of the Bar to address matters in Civil District Court and Civil Superior Court requiring face-to-face, telephone, email, and other written communication to answer inquiries and secure/provide information.
  • Compose and prepare a variety of materials including correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
  • Assist Court Manager and Court Coordinator in court management duties.
  • Track status of cases and prepare periodic reports
  • Schedule arbitration hearings, resolve scheduling conflicts, and maintain administrative arbitration records.
  • Prepare and distribute court calendars.
  • Serve arbitration notices, orders, and other legal documents.
  • Communicate with the public and members of the Bar to address arbitration-related inquiries.
  • May provide support services to other court programs and complete special work projects at the direction of the Trial Court Administrator, Chief District Court Judge or his/her designee.
