About The Position

The Aquatic Safety Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe aquatic environment through active supervision of lifeguards and aquatic staff, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting daily facility operations. This role emphasizes staff training, safety audits, emergency preparedness, and operational oversight to ensure the highest level of patron safety.

Requirements

  • Current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, American Red Cross First Aid, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training.
  • LGI certification within six months of hire date.
  • Minimum of two years aquatic experience which may include: lifeguard duties, swim team experience, teaching, swim lessons, specialty classes, etc.
  • Supervisory experience highly preferred.
  • Strong swimming and lifesaving skills
  • Good leadership and human relations skills
  • Ability to communicate and work with a team.
  • Problem solving skills and strong organizational skills
  • Approved Criminal Background Investigation Check
  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school graduate or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification, through a certifying agency approved by the District
  • Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Certification through a certifying agency approved by the District
  • Emergency Medical Technician

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and proper operation of all aquatic areas within the Fitness Center.
  • Schedule lifeguards to maintain appropriate pool coverage and supervise their performance.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate lifeguards, including conducting performance reviews and implementing corrective action when needed.
  • Ensure all lifeguards maintain current certifications and follow established policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Assist in establishing and enforcing aquatic facility rules, policies, and the Emergency Action Plan, and help oversee the facility’s Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Provide leadership through effective communication, delegation, and regular staff meetings.
  • Maintain a professional environment by setting a positive example, addressing patron concerns, and promoting positive public relations.
  • Support overall facility operations by coordinating pool setups, monitoring aquatic programs, and communicating equipment or supply needs to management.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with staff and management, attend meetings and trainings, and contribute to planning and improvement of aquatic operations.
  • Serve as a lifeguard when necessary and assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized facility.
