About The Position

The Lead Development Coach for the Swim Team is responsible for leading the developmental groups, including the Pre-Competitive group. This role involves designing season plans in collaboration with the Head Coach, assisting with other training groups, and attending scheduled USA Swim meets. The coach will also work with the Head Coach to recruit new swimmers and schedule tryouts, as well as assist the parent committee with various tasks such as spirit wear orders, group socials, and end-of-season banquets. Administrative tasks such as meet entries, weekly newsletters, and updating the team website are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in related field.
  • Certified Lifeguard (or willing to become certified).
  • Certified Pool Operator (or willing to become a CPO).
  • Experience in Teaching/Coaching Swim.
  • Proven experience in youth, aquatics and sports programs.
  • Works well in a team as well as independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to adapt and maintain a calm demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Being the lead coach for the developmental groups on the team, including the Pre-Competitive group.
  • Designing season plans in accordance with the Head Coach.
  • Assisting with other training groups as needed.
  • Attending scheduled USA Swim meets.
  • Working with the Head Coach to recruit new swimmers and schedule tryouts.
  • Assisting the parent committee with tasks such as spirit wear orders, group socials, and end of season banquets.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as meet entries, weekly newsletters, updating the team website.
  • Evening Supervisor of pools.
  • Supervising lifeguards.
  • Overseeing maintenance of pool including chemical balance and cleanliness.
  • Lifeguarding as needed.
  • Creating, organizing and implementing new recreation and enrichment classes and programs for various age groups.
  • Teaching Early Childhood Center Physical Education classes.
  • Overseeing gym rentals, contracts, and promoting outreach for additional rentals.
  • Managing Gym Schedule.
  • Monitoring Gymnasium and working with Fitness Staff to monitor locker-rooms.
  • Working with marketing team to ensure all programs are marketed.
  • Generating, integrating and sharing new ideas for growth opportunities in sports and recreation programming.
  • Fostering, developing and maintaining relationships in the community to enhance and expand services.
  • Building successful partnerships with agency program and operations staff.
  • Supporting the mission of the JCC.
  • Representing and promoting JCC at community-wide events, programs, and open-houses.
  • Working with members and clients of the JCC to ensure happiness and address concerns.
  • Attending full staff and program staff meetings.
  • Participating in professional development workshops/conferences, training seminars and webinars.
  • Possessing a sense of humor and the desire to have fun.
  • Actively pursuing an understanding of all JCC programs to provide seamless stewardship of families.
