About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Aquatics Program Coordinator helps to create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the pool deck, and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The Aquatics Program Coordinator helps organizes and implements high quality, consumer focused YMCA Aquatic Programs, assists in the group swim lesson program, private swim lesson program, and swim team program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • One to two years’ related experience preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
  • Completion of YMCA Aquatics Training (or Red Cross equivalent)
  • Certifications: YMCA Swim Instructor, YMCA Lifeguard (or equivalent), Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, Adult and Pediatric First Aid, and Emergency Use Medical Oxygen.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Assists in new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Maintains collaborative relationships with the community.
  • Trains, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Assists in the reviews and evaluations of staff performance. Assists in developing strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Assist in recruiting a diverse staff and volunteer’s teams across multiple dimensions of diversity.
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conduct and ensures proper maintenance of pools.
  • Assists in the maintaining of accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
  • Conducts lifeguarding quick checks and safety audits. Swim lesson audits for quality programs.
  • Assists in staffing coverage for both lifeguarding and swim lessons.
  • Responsible for all private lesson billing.
  • Assists in the scheduling of group swim lesson offerings. Is responsible for ensuring all records are kept current in regard to private lessons.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Monitors programs to meet fiscal objectives. To meet or exceed planned revenue. Monitor expenses and labor costs, to stay on track.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Assists in responding to member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within all areas of responsibility.
  • Assists with all in-service trainings for staff.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
