About The Position

This is a hands-on, in-water leadership role focused on swim instruction and instructor development. The Aquatics Manager will teach lessons, coach instructors, and ensure the delivery of the British Swim School curriculum with a strong emphasis on water safety. As the program grows, the role will take on increasing leadership responsibilities, including team development and scheduling oversight. This is a part-time role starting at approximately 20 hours per week. The British Swim School aims to make a substantial impact within communities to combat child drowning statistics, investing in quality team members to teach lessons with the mindset of being a survival school first and a learn-to-swim school second. The mission is to ensure every person, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer. Working at British Swim School offers a chance to create a lasting impact, empower others, and share a passion for water safety, primarily working with preschool and elementary-aged kids.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of swim instruction or aquatics experience
  • Experience coaching, developing, and holding team members accountable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working with all age groups in the water
  • Ability to follow structured programs and systems
  • Willingness to work across multiple locations (Antioch, Brentwood, and future Bay Point)

Nice To Haves

  • Coaching or mentoring experience (1+ year)
  • Customer-facing experience
  • Experience working with children or special needs individuals
  • Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications
  • Strong swimming ability (competitive swim or lifeguard background a plus)
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and inspire a team of swim instructors to deliver exceptional swim lessons and customer experiences
  • Teach swim lessons in alignment with British Swim School curriculum and safety expectations
  • Evaluate instructor performance and provide ongoing feedback and training
  • Create schedules to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Maintain compliance with swim instructor training requirements and certifications
  • Support hiring and onboarding of instructors
  • Conduct pool chemistry and temperature checks
  • Deliver excellent customer service and handle escalations professionally
  • Assist with sales, retention, and overall customer experience
  • Participate in meetings and ongoing training
