About The Position
The Aquatics Director at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the aquatic programs at the Wolverine Worldwide Family YMCA. This role is crucial in ensuring that the aquatic needs of the community are met while providing a safe and enjoyable environment for both children and adults. The Director will engage in face-to-face leadership, which may require early morning, evening, and weekend hours to effectively manage the programs and staff. The position emphasizes the importance of community engagement and member satisfaction, aligning with the YMCA's guiding principles of cultivating leadership, inclusivity, service, continuous learning, unity, respect, and play. In this role, the Aquatics Director will administer swim lessons and aquatic programs, manage the scheduling of classes and staff, and provide lifeguard and swim instruction as needed. The Director will also be responsible for developing and promoting aquatic programs in collaboration with local schools and through various communication channels. Additionally, the Director will handle administrative tasks such as preparing rosters, distributing program evaluations, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards set by the State of Michigan's Department of Health. The Aquatics Director will supervise the aquatic department staff, setting goals and objectives, conducting performance evaluations, and participating in the recruitment and training of a diverse workforce. Fiscal management is also a key responsibility, as the Director will manage the department's operating budget and assist with annual fundraising efforts. The role requires a commitment to providing outstanding member service, fostering volunteerism, and ensuring the overall quality and cleanliness of the facility.
