About The Position

Coordinate and direct the development and implementation of aquatics program including but not limited to: swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboard, etc. Supervise senior and junior camp counselors to effect quality programming in the subject area.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old to comply with New York State Department of Health regulations.
• One year experience as aquatics director or two years experience as a lifeguard at a children's camp.
• Two seasons of previous experience consisting cumulatively of at least 12 weeks as a children's camp lifeguard.
• At least 18 weeks of previous experience as a lifeguard at a swimming pool or bathing beach.
• Current lifeguard and waterfront Certification as approved by the Local Health Department.
• Lifeguard supervision and management certificate that meets the requirements of subpart 6-2.
• Current certification as a progressive swimming instructor, Water Safety Instructor or Basic Swim Instructor or the ability to obtain prior to camp season.
• Current CPR for Professional Rescuer certificate or other CPR certification approved by the local Department of Health.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Ability to supervise and organize staff members.
• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

• Lifeguard and Progressive Swimming Instructor or Water Safety Instructor certificates are preferred.
• Certification for teaching lifeguarding / First Aid and CPR.
